After completing his undergraduate degree in 2009 at the University of the Witwatersrand, he went on to complete his internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and community service at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital respectively.
In 2013 Dr Sofianos became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS), and in 2015 he completed his Master of Science in Surgical Sciences (MSc) at the University of Edinburgh in the UK. Dr Sofianos then worked as a Registrar at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in general surgery as well as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as part of his specialist training which he completed in 2018 at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Dr Sofianos then furthered his training with a year-long Microsurgery Fellowship at the prestigious Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Trust in England in 2018. There he obtained specialised training in Breast, Lower Limb, Head and Neck and Hand Surgery, providing him with unparalleled surgical expertise.
He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and is committed to providing a modern, evidence-based and patient-centred practice. From his practice based at Life Bedford Gardens Hospital, Dr Sofianos’ interests include breast reconstruction, complex soft tissue injuries, elective and emergency hand surgery, abdominoplasty and body contouring.
